Spiritual Discussions

An investigation into central fundamental issues such as the meaning of life, our calling, the search for truth, the choice of the spiritual way. Additionally, we investigate other themes such as dogmatic purity and the recognition of one’s own tradition. All these and more are discussed by the participants of Spiritual Discussions.
What are the Church’s responses to these challenging questions? What is the relationship between the spiritual and material aspects of life? Is it possible to reach perfection in this life? How does one carry out the commandments of Christianity? What should be our attitude towards various sects? How should we protect our children and ourselves from “spiritual deformations”? Thorough responses and discussions to these questions and other important issues will be heard in Spiritual Discussions.

13 February Wisdom in the Old Testament

Why is the importance of wisdom so stressed in the Old Testament and why is the fear of God considered to be the beginning of wisdom? Wisdom is described as something that has existed since the creation of the Universe; how to understand this? And how to attain wisdom?

08 February The Meaning of Life

Only one life is given to each of us. What is the meaning of that life? Can the meaning of different people's lives also be different and acceptable according to Christianity? What is the meaning of a Christian's life? Doesn't the whole life of a human being depend on the exposition of the meaning of life?

06 February The Cross of Each of Us

The Lord says: "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." But many of us complain about our cross to be different, very heavy and unbearable. How to understand this? We often ask: "What is my cross that I may take it on my shoulders?" but isn't our cross the state of our life in which we already live? What is the cross of each of us?

01 February Human Conscience

What category is conscience? Is it the natural carrier of God-established laws and order and is that the reason for many to not have reconciliation with their conscience when they are in sin? Why do the Church Fathers consider human conscience an enemy with whom it is necessary to be cautious when walking on the way so that it may not hand you over to the judge?

18 January The Year of the Lord’s Favor

What is the "year of the Lord's favor" (Is 61:2)? Can we, thanks to the birth of Christ, live all the years of our life as years of the Lord's favor? How to live the year so that it may be favorable in God's eyes? Why does the Christian world also relate the course of the year to Zodiac signs instead of God?

11 January The Love of Christ

Is it possible to repeat the love of Christ? Isn't each Christian a potential carrier of that love with obligations toward it? Why did the apostle say that we should owe nothing to each other except for love?

04 January About the Praise of St. Ephrem the Syrian on the Holy Nativity

"Today, in this barren month, we were sent the Fruit of Life from Heaven.
In this month, when there is no grape in gardens, the Virgin Vine granted us the Cluster of her womb.
In this month, when the leaves of the trees fall down, the leaves of Adam turned into a luminous garment."
So writes St. Ephrem the Syrian in his praise on the Holy Nativity. How to understand the meaning of each of these lines? This is discussed in our today's broadcast.

21 December Dreams in the Bible (Part II)

How to understand that, on the one hand, the Bible warns: "Who believes in dreams is like someone who tries to catch a shadow and chase after a wind" (cf. Sirach 34:1-3), while on the other hand that same book gives us many examples of dreams through which the Lord delivers an important message or prophecy to His people or individuals? What conclusion based on these examples can be drawn about when dreams can be from God?

What happens to humans when they sin and linger in this state? How did the dwellers of the Paradise, Adam and Eve, fall into sin, and then what happened to their souls? Why is sin sweet to the sinner's taste like the forbidden fruit? To what state can unrepented sins bring the person? Why does sin open the door for new sins?

12 December Why Did Jesus Speak in Parables

Why did the Lord speak in parables with crowds, when with His disciples He spoke more openly? Speaking in parables was peculiar to the ancient world; it was an ancient civilizational method. What was the efficiency of that method? Is speaking in parables also usable today as an efficient pedagogical method and preaching trick?

The Bible attaches a great importance to the factor of faith. Wasn't that the reason that faith was changed into a dogmatic value and was formulated as a Creed at the Nicene Ecumenical Council? How does that Creed, which is recited by the faithful during each Divine Liturgy, define the Christian faith in God? Why is it important what we believe in and what we don't believe in?

What hinders amid today’s pluralism from including the words of the Book of Books in each mass media means, poster, showcase, school and university textbook for a wide propagation and promotion? 12 October Family Models in the 21st Century

What family models are there in the world nowadays, and what is the Christian assessment of each of them? Why does the Church recognize only that union as lawful which is between a man and a woman and established through the Church marriage at that? What does this radicalism of the Church secure in the mystery and purpose of marriage? Why can't a love union between a couple, if it is not formalized by documents, be pleasing to God? Don't two persons love each other? And God is love.

Often, the couple comes to church to marry without any idea about the Sacrament of Matrimony. Whose fault is this? In which cases can a priest reject or postpone the performance of this sacrament? What consequences can follow both hasty baptisms and hasty church marriages?
