Dora Sakayan has recently published a book in German, "Man treibt sie in die Wüste" ("They drive them into the desert"), which is a legally valuable document about the Armenian Genocide and comprises the testimonies of Swiss witnesses – Fritz Sigrist-Hilty, engineer of the Berlin-Baghdad Railway during the years of the Genocide, and his wife Clara.
So far, numerous memoirs of foreign witnesses have been published in different languages about the Armenin Genocide. But diaries about the massacres are seldom and they usually include only certain days. While Clara Sigrist-Hilty wrote down her experiences every day for three years, 1915-1917.
