Reconstructed Children’s Railway opened in Yerevan
Reconstructed Children’s Railway opened in Yerevan August 3, 2012

On August 2, Yerevan hosted the official opening ceremony of Children’s Railway, reconstructed at the initiative of South Caucasus Railway (SCR) CJSC.

As SCR CEO Victor Rebets noted, the Company had taken the responsibility to reconstruct the infrastructure despite the fact that it no longer belonged to the railway of Armenia.

“75 years ago the construction of the Children’s Railway stressed the importance of the infrastructure for the city and today we try to give a new life to the park”, said SCR COE said.

Mr. Rebets stressed that restoration of the rolling stock and the track was only the first step in the comprehensive program of the reconstruction of the park. The second stage envisages establishment of a school for young railroaders jointly with the city administration and Children’s Railway owner.

Reconstruction is also a way to support the development of urban infrastructure of the capital under SCR-Yerevan Municipality agreement on the socio-economic cooperation, according to the company’s press service.
